Head of Product

B2B SaaS, Data-rich, Seed-funded StartupLondon/Hybrid

About the Role

This Head of Product position has it all.

Who is it with?

A well-funded (3 year runway and already generating revenue), London startup whose product uses AI and data to help enterprises you definitely will have heard of, optimise their supply chain. One of the founders has a previous successful exit, so they're in good hands.

What does Product mean to them now?

You will be the first hire into the product function so they need help converting founder vision into an actionable roadmap. The current team is product-oriented but there isn't anyone owning the whole function yet.

What will it be like?

There's about 16 people in the company right now with a mix of founders, designers, front end engineers, back end engineers, and back office staff. So this is definitely a high impact, high ownership position.

They like to operate on trust and foster a creative safe space to allow people to work at their best. Each member of the team has either an impressive commercial or academic background (sometimes both!) and a mindset that matches the company ideals. Candid, thoughtful, curious.

How about the reporting lines?

You'll report up to the founders, 2 of which are technical, the other has a successful exit. Day to day you'll work quite closely with the Chief of Staff whilst having around 4 engineers and 2 designers reporting into you.

And the comp?

There's up to £130k + equity, unlimited holiday, Vitality, and they'll cover whatever reasonable equipment you need to work well.

And hybrid policy?

The first week of each month, everyone gets together including a Co-Founder from overseas, so they're in 4 days. Outside of that, most people are in 2-3 days per week.

What are they looking for in a Head of Product?

They’re looking for a proven Product leader who is comfortable operating at the intersection of strategy and execution. Someone who can take a strong founder vision, challenge and distil it into a clear product direction, then roll up their sleeves and make it happen.

You’ll need to be technically credible enough to work closely with engineers, confident making difficult prioritisation decisions, and experienced in leading and developing a product team. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys working closely with founders and customers, and wants the opportunity to grow into a CPO role as they scale.

Sounds good. What about the interview process?

It's 4 stages. The first 2 stages will be relatively short, casual, and two-directional where you'll meet the Chief of Staff and one of the founders, giving both parties a chance to establish initial fit and interest.

This will be followed by the main technical exercise which will be conducted in-person and requires a small amount of prep ahead of the interview.

Final stage is online where you'll meet the rest of the founding team and get any final questions answered before an offer is extended.
